Mukabaki Falls

行縢の滝
Top 100 Kyushu Miyazaki Prefecture ↓ 77 m

Mukabaki Falls occupies a striking position: the 77-meter cascade on the Mukabaki River drops between Odake and Medake, the paired "male" and "female" peaks of Mount Mukabaki, in Mukabaki-cho on the edge of Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture. Waterfall, river, mountain, and neighborhood all share one name — a sign of how completely the fall defines its landscape. The surroundings are doubly protected, lying within both the Sobo-Katamuki Quasi-National Park and the Sobo-Katamuki Prefectural Natural Park, the mountain complex that walls off northern Miyazaki from Oita. Among Miyazaki's Top-100 entries, Mukabaki is the mountaineer's waterfall, framed by summits on either side.
